Dear Coach/Manager:

The 3rd Annual Mauer Cup is scheduled for July 14-28, 2012. This year's Mauer Cup offers a great opportunity for your team to cap off the season by playing in a competitive, year-end baseball tournament that will prepare your team for the August post season.

Over the last two years, 80 teams have participated in the Mauer Cup. The host fields for the event will be announced in the coming weeks. This year's tournament will also be expanding its pool play by allowing up to 64 teams to register for the event. Registration is underway and will remain open until the earlier of the following occurs: (1) the 64 team field is completely full or (2) the calendar reaches June 22, 2012.

The Mauer Cup is affiliated with Little League International and operates under Little League regular season rules and with Little League sanctioned umpires. The tournament, however, is open to all teams regardless of baseball affiliation. Tournament teams must be comprised of 10-12 year old players and must consist of 'regular season' house league teams or 'blended regular season' house league teams. The minimum number of players on any roster will be 12 and the maximum will be 14. No participating teams can be made up solely of 'all star' or 'select' players.

The entry fee for this year's tournament is $500. Of this amount, $200 must be paid at the time of registration with the remaining balance due on or before June 30, 2012. In addition, each team will be given raffle tickets (5 tickets per player listed on your initial roster) that they will be required to sell in support of the tournament's fundraiser in support of St. Jude's. Each raffle ticket sold will qualify the purchaser for a chance to win a 2012 Chevrolet courtesy of Mauer Chevrolet. In addition, the team that sells the most raffle tickets will win a special team prize.

The Mauer Cup is a two week tournament that begins with opening ceremonies on Saturday July 14, 2012 and ends with Championship Saturday, July 28, 2012. Each team is guaranteed at least 3 games with the top team from each pool moving on to bracket play and the chance to play on Championship Saturday. This year's championship game will again be broadcast live on 830 WCCO Radio.

Also, on July 22, 2012, all tournament teams, their families, coaches and friends are invited to a mid-tournament picnic hosted by the Mauer Family. Join Jake, Teresa, Bill and their family and friends for an afternoon of baseball, food, fun, a dunk tank featuring the tournament umpires and prizes. There will be no on-site admission fee charged at this tournament. No refunds will be issued after the June 30, 2012 entry deadline date has passed. If poor weather results in games being cancelled during the pool-play portion of the Mauer Cup, tournament officials reserve the right to devise a shortened format for the remainder of the tournament. In the event of weather causing unplayable fields on Championship Saturday, the tournament is considered complete with no entry fee refunded.
